An Inside Scoop from Roland DGA

Digital printing has unlocked new possibilities for customizing every surface in interior spaces. We sat down with Kitt Jones, Roland DGA’s Business Development DIMENSE and Décor Segment Manager, and Philip Chu, Product Manager, to get their insights on using digital printing for everything from floors to ceilings—and everything in between.
Customizing Floors with Digital Print
“If you’re wondering whether digital printing can be used for flooring, the answer is a big yes,” says Jones. Digital printing has transformed flooring, enabling super-detailed, high-resolution designs on vinyl, laminate, ceramic tiles, and even engineered wood. In vinyl flooring, designers can print wood grains, marble, or bold abstract patterns directly onto sheets or planks, which are then coated for protection. That’s one reason luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) have surged in popularity.
